WINTER BREAK...FINALLY!!!

After my 30 minute trips to the local pond after school, cramming 2 or 3 fishing locations into my Saturdays if I didn't hunt that day, fishing before and after church on Sundays, and beating by head against the wall waiting for the days to get longer, I will finally get 2 weeks to fish for whatever the heck I want to fish for! I should be fishing at least once every 2 days (I would fish every day but I gotta' make time for hunting), and I will keep my blog(s) very active. I will be fishing Sugar Hollow Reservoir for trout, trying to locate some fish on the tough-to-access side of the reservoir, blocked by the North and South fork of the Moormans on the upper side, and the Moormans and Sugar Hollow Dam on the lower side. There are some fallen trees in 8-12 feet of water on that side that I have pulled some nice brookies off of in the past. I will also be fishing my beloved Whitetop Laurel again, this time we will be fishing a section above our normal grounds, where I pulled a 10" native rainbow from in the last 10 minutes of daylight on black friday, as well as missing 3 or 4 other trout. I will probably leave the 3 weight at my house, because I couldn't get my fingers to function well in November, and I know I won't be able to fish in December, especially at that altitude. And I don't see the purpose in dead-drifting nymphs and wooly buggers when I can be more efficient with spinning tackle. I also will be doing a first fish of 2013 excursion in the transition time from 2012-2013 when most people are inside watching the New Years Ceremony. I will be out with my flashlights, hot coffee, and handwarmers, bundled up like the kid from A Christmas Story who couldn't put his arms down because he had so many clothes on. Hopefully I can catch a couple crappie and bluegill using some worms and minnows under glow-in-the-dark bobbers.
