Fishing on Lake Orange

Decided to try a multi species day on Lake Orange today in kayaks and a canoe.... We brought equipment to bass, crappie, bluegill, perch, catfish, and carp fish, and we just use the equipment that best fits the conditions. We started out perch trolling and didn't land any but we did get into some nice bluegills in the 7-9 inch range. We then broke out the carp equipment and headed into a cove that was about 4 feet deep and anchored up. We threw a can of corn out and rigged up some light tackle to free line with pieces of corn.
We sat for about 20 minutes before one line slowly tightened and then slacked up, I set the hook and immediately saw a giant fish roll onto its side and knew we were in for a battle. The fish had taken a setup on a super ultralight rod and a shimano sahara spooled with 4 pound mono. We pulled up the anchors and followed the fish around for about 10 minutes before I got the first glimpse of the monster grass carp.
I grabbed my mini gaff and after five or so minutes of toying with him right at the boat I was able to slide the gaff into his lower lip and boat him. We snapped a couple pics, I unhooked him, and we released the fish unharmed. We fished for another 20 minutes and missed one more fish but the wind and rain proved too strong for carp fishing.
We headed down the lake and fished for another hour at some flooded timber in 27 feet of water and lost a couple fish we think were catfish but decided to go look for other fish. We went to a brush pile in about 4 feet of water and to my surprise started slamming crappies. The go-to bait was a charlie brewer slider grub with a 1/16 of an ounce jig head. So it was a pretty slow day, but we got some flyers for a kids fishing tournament on the 15th, so we will be heading back to Lake Orange to try and claim some Bass Pro Shops gift cards! Thanks for reading!

If I catch a little one I will, but the smallest carp I have ever caught was 23", and that is too much fish in my opinion for a taste test haha.
