I've Been Needing This

First fish of the day.
Well I finally caught a couple fish, in this fishless slum I found myself in, that seemed to have no end. I netted a few minnows in the creek feeding into my neighbors pond, and headed to my wintertime spot for bass and crappies on the pond. I caught a small largemouth on my first cast, then missed a fish 10 or so minutes later. I  hooked into a fish that felt like a crappie,  and when I got it to the bank, my prediction was confirmed. the fish had swallowed the hook though so "unfortunately" (wink wink) he had to join me for dinner. I caught one more bass on a minnow then switched to a trout magnet under a float, this brought my 4th and final fish of the day to my net, a small 8 or 9 inch crappie, which I released. I then experienced a phenomena unlike anything I have seen before. I pulled my float a foot or two, paused it, pulled it another foot, and then, out of no where, a crappie went completely ballistic and smashed my float, continuing out of the water, creating a distance of nearly a foot between him and the water. Bear in mind the bass fight like slugs with these water temperatures, and crappies...Well I don't care what water temperature you fish, crappie are WEAK. This one thought otherwise...Thanks for reading!

It isn't always bad when a fish swallows the hook!
